Headlight Magazine
Magazine, InDesign & Figma
2024
Headlight Magazine is a project designed to uncover and shine a light on the often-overlooked individuals who have played a significant role in shaping the history of graphic design. By exploring the untold stories of these lesser-known artists, the magazine aims to inspire both emerging and established creatives to draw inspiration from these hidden pioneers and their contributions to the field of design.
The cover and title were key elements in the design process. The title, Bazaar: Hidden Archives, reflects the magazine's theme of uncovering forgotten histories, with the cover visually embodying this concept. The main graphic element features a work by Alexey Brodovich, while a cutout reveals the hidden contributions of Bea and Ruth, symbolizing the discovery of their overlooked yet significant impact.
The first part or the issue focuses on Alexey Brodovich, the head designer. It delves into his groundbreaking work, highlighting his innovative use of double-page spreads and distinctive imagery, which brought a dynamic new energy to the publication.
Shifting into the 1960s, the focus then turns to Bea and Ruth, two lesser-known designers whose fresh perspectives and unique styles perfectly captured and represented the transformative spirit of the times.
