Open-ended is a publication about open-source, exploring its history, philosophy, community, and artistic applications. It goes beyond software, highlighting how open-source principles shape design, art, and knowledge-sharing. The publication seeks to inform and inspire, featuring case studies, interviews, and creative interpretations of open-source culture. This multivolume publication was developed in group.
We conducted extensive research on open source in design, defining our target audience and curating content into four main themes: community projects, open source tools, design communities, and academic research on design as a method. To guide readers, we created an index poster with an introductory note for newcomers to open source.
For this project, I was involved in all stages of the process, with a particular focus on the development of the orange booklet and the blue poster.
The visual identity of this project was carefully developed from start to finish. We designed everything using open source typefaces and intentionally incorporated a variety of fonts to reflect the ideas of diversity and community.
This format allows people to contribute to create, share, and build upon existing knowledge. They can adapt the project or use only specific parts of the content if they wish.
